We are pleased to share that AJ Farming and Homestead has been placed in the Merit Pool for the REnew Pacific program, a strong endorsement of our proposed renewable energy project and its potential impact for rural Samoa.

Recently, AJ Farming and Homestead had the honour of hosting representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), and the Electric Power Corporation (EPC) for a community consultation and site visit. This engagement formed part of our preparation for the submission of our REnew Pacific grant concept note on 28 April.

REnew Pacific is the Australian Government’s investment in off-grid renewable energy for rural and remote communities across the Pacific and Timor-Leste. Our proposed project seeks to bring reliable, clean energy access to AJ Farming and Homestead and neighbouring off-grid farming communities in Savai‘i, representing a first of its kind opportunity for these communities to access sustainable energy solutions and plan for a more secure future🔌💡

Introducing renewable energy will have a truly transformative impact. Access to electricity will reduce the burden of daily tasks, improve living conditions, and enhance quality of life for families who have long lived without power.

The project will directly support:

✅ Livelihood development through increased agricultural productivity

✅ Improved safety, particularly for women and children in isolated areas

✅ Stronger food security through better storage, processing, and farming capacity

✅ Climate resilience via locally appropriate, renewable energy solutions

Being placed in the merit pool is an important milestone and a strong signal that our vision is viable, impactful, and aligned with regional priorities. Access to energy through this initiative is a critical step toward achieving AJ Farming and Homestead’s long-term vision:
